Join us at the Workforce Wayne Third Annual meeting, Thursday, May 21st, 2009 8:30 am-1:00 pm at Woodloch Springs. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Much has happened since the annual meeting last year. Jennifer Porter, Director of Workforce Initiatives, and Lyndsay Birmelin, Workforce Coordinator, were hired to progress the partnership. Workforce Wayne staff has been busy connecting the segments of the Workforce Wayne partnership, including business, education, employment services, government, economic development and community entities. Thank you to those we’ve met and worked with to date, and those of you who contribute to making the community better every day. Other benchmarks that have been met include use of Career Cruising in schools, development of Career Pathways and Career Linking Academies, Junior Achievement BizTown participation, planning for Community Career & Training sites in the libraries, and increased awareness of the jobs and skills of the 21st century through community outreach, including a community-wide forum in April. The Workforce Wayne Third Annual meeting will focus on making progress towards: • A business and education partnership in Wayne and Pike Counties and • Planning and design of a career and technical education facility for our students and adult workers.
