Listen to the below radio spot here, from October 2009. Hi….I am Mary Beth Wood, executive Director of WEDCO and a partner in Workforce Wayne.
Workforce Wayne is all about building the skills of our people… so we can build our economy
In a few short months, nine new Career Training sites will be at located throughout our County thanks to a partnership of Workforce Wayne and our libraries.
And in the Spring two new culinary certificates programs will be offered through a partnership of Luzerne County Community College and our high schools. This will be good for our workers, and for our local hospitality industry.
These are just two examples of the work that is being done to enhance our skill levels and create new career opportunities.
So if you are a business asking ….Where is my next good employee….a parent asking…what career pathway should my child take…or, as WEDCO is doing…what business will come to Wayne County because of our skilled labor…the answer lies in part with Workforce Wayne.
I ask that you consider investing in Workforce Wayne by downloading the forms above or by calling 253-5334.
We need to keep this momentum going. We have a wonderful county and together we can make tremendous things happen. >_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_>_> To date, Workforce Wayne and partners are: • Involving more than 100 Wayne/Pike entities in building a 21st Century Workforce Delivery System • Investing $65,000 in a study on a Career & Technical Center for Wayne and Pike counties • Locating library career centers across Wayne County • Instituting career awareness and planning for all students • Bringing community forums with national experts, including Dr. Daniel Perna • Building a website to connect employers to job seekers • Promoting training, such as the Luzerne County Community College RN program with Wayne Memorial Hospital and culinary certificates with our local high schools, as well as Marcellus Shale Training needs
